Sadly, Stacks (formerly Blockstack) has decided to sunset their Browser based Auth - which means #Nomiewill no longer be able to use it for storing data. Users should export their data (settings/data/generate backup), and then switch to Nomie’s Local Storage option and import the backup file.
Early yesterday morning, someone slid into a pole outside our neighborhood - killing the internet. I'll be in low-data mode for the foreseeable future.
Last week I asked r/nomie if they had any questions, and that I’d answer them on a podcast. I got a lot of great questions, and will answer them one-by-one, in hopes of forcing myself to #podcastmore. In episode 24 I talk about a massive #nomie6 setback, and answer “How long have you been a developer?”
If you can burn $5/$10 a day - setting up recurring purchasing on Coinbase (or any other crypto exchange) for BTC, ETH, LTC is a great way to participate (gamble) in the crypto world without constantly stressing about the ups and downs.
🤯 Play Playstation 1.0 #gamesonline with friends using this amazing #web#devtech. Get it while it's hot, as it will surely be sued into oblivion. https://psxparty.kosmi.io
Nomie 6 development has begun!
I’m not much of a planner with Nomie, instead I just serendipitously follow the flow. Every so often the flow leads me to build something that I don’t see initially as the next version, but ultimately becomes the next version.
Do you use #nomie?Since it's private, I have no clue how you use it. These surveys help me get a generalized idea - while still respecting your privacy. https://forms.gle/iiHN8eCcLZ8ZP7My6
I've been a fan of TailWindCSS for a while, but now that I have it properly setup in my build pipeline, I'm a RAVING FAN - absolutely love it.
Here's a quick tutorial on how to use it https://themesberg.com/blog/tailwind-css/tutorial#ux#dev
The React based #nomiesite wouldn't build, so I rebuilt it with Nuxt and Tailwind, and I couldn't be happier. Honestly, if I could just do Vue and Svelte, I'd never touch React again. https://nuxtjs.orghttps://TailwindCSS.comhttps://nomie.app#dev
If you posted, commented, or shared content claiming the pandemic would end after the election. Do yourself (and the world) a favor and sign-off the internet for a few months so you can deeply re-evaluate your life decisions. #election#covid
This ad ran in Iceland, during prime time. While shocking, it will absolutely give you a dose of body positivity. I wonder what the ramifications are of America’s obsession in repressing it and continually associating nudity with sexuality. #nsfw
I finally got a new keyboard for my 2017 iPad Pro, as my official Apple one died last year. The Zagg Slim Book, is amazing for only $37 bucks. The keyboard has travel, it’s fast and responsive. Only downside - it was made for the 2019 iPad Pro. 🤦♂️
We have a working API that let’s me post to brandons.app! I ended up going with a Netlify function, a secret key, and a process running on my home server to commit to the repo... #dev#socialsilo
And Justice for Art - a book covering heavy metal album covers, coming soon... (plus it has my first professional design project for Biohazard’s Album No Holds Barred)
I’m bumming now that it’s getting colder in the mornings. It’s 30 degrees and I’m still in the garage trying to enjoy the last days of my summer “working in the garage” habit. ☀️
So I’ve put this live even though I’m not really proof reading a damn thing. 🎂 perfect. Check out what I’ve done by clicking the ••• for the details of this post.
As the workday wraps up, I really should be working on the Nomie 5.5 release. But, instead I’m obsessing over this whole trying to build a siloed social experience that can satiate enough to leave Facebook and Twitter for good. I’m going to import all of my tweets to see what happens when you have 10 years of data. 🧨
Interesting write up on the dangers of using Apple’s Web App Meta Tag #PWA- if your app isn’t ready for it.
